Lake Molveno, a precious pearl inside an even more precious chest
A dream place to regenerate surrounded by nature.
Once arrived to last turn before entering the town, and there it is, the Molveno's lake... that leaves you breathless, of an iridescent deep blue colour, depending on the reflection angle. It was described by Fogazzaro as "A precious pearl inside an even more precious chest"
Lake Molveno has been nominated by Legambiente as the most beautiful lake of Italy and awarded with 5 sails.
Our splendid lake Molveno has a history dating back to the post-glacial period, when a huge landslide broke away from the above standing mountain causing the closure of the valley. With a depth of about 130m is only the second after Lake Garda and its waters hide the entire prehistoric forest, with signs of settlements from the Bronze Age.
Thanks to the promenade that runs along the shores of Lake Molveno, you can admire every facet, discovering the hidden and jaw-dropping ridges, and your eyes will fill with the colours of nature.
The beach of Lake Molveno is made of soft fresh grass, where you can stretch out in the sun... and it will be a bit like being at sea, rather better! There is no hassles about hot sand that sneaks everywhere and specially... no mosquitoes!
The waters of Lake Molveno are richly populated with precious fish species such as lake trout and Arctic Charr, which live only where there is no trace of pollution.
Entering the woods, on the western shore of Lake Molveno, you can find the "Napoleons' Forts", the remains of the fortifications erected by the Austrian Military Command in the early nineteenth century to counter the advance of Napoleonic troops.
And for refreshments after the climb... try the home cooking in the homonymous hut!
Another little surprise is the small lake of Nembia, a pond surrounded by majestic mountain peaks reflected on the still surface with a striking effect.
